Thunder NCDC and Premier teams were both in action this past weekend at the Islanders Hockey Club Showcase.  The NCDC team played 3 games in 3 days and went 3-0 against teams who are all chasing them in the standings.

Game one was played on Thursday against the South Shore Kings and saw the Thunder special teams take center stage as they scored 2 goals on the power play and one on shorthanded pacing them to a 5-1 win.  Game 2 was played on Friday against the showcase hosts, Islanders Hockey Club.  Once again the power play was clicking as the Thunder scored twice on the man advantage and pushed them to a 5-3 victory.  The showcase wrapped up against the Rochester Monarchs.  The Thunder scored early and often en route to an 8-0 win.

The Premier team had a little busier schedule as they were scheduled for 4 games in less than 3 days.  Friday started out with a 4-3 win over the Rochester Monarchs.  Saturday saw the first game's start time get pushed back from 1:20 to 2:45 as they battled the Buffalo Thunder.  Twin City won the game 5-3.  The Thunder then got ready to play their second game of the day, merely hours later as the took home a 3-0 win against the PAL Islanders.  Sunday's 8 am puck drop concluded the showcase and saw an exhausted Thunder team drop the decision 4-1 to the Potomac Patriots.

The Thunder are back in action at home this weekend as they take on the Utica Comets on Friday and Saturday.  Saturday is Military Appreciation Night and will feature a benefit for the Travis Mills Foundation.  The NCDC team will be wearing special jerseys sponsored by US Cellular in Auburn that will be auctioned off during the game.
